Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab submitted Friday the electoral Law and the formation of the Electoral Supreme Committee to President Abd Al Fattah Al Sisi for approval, Al Bawaba News reported. Sources said that the Electoral Supreme Committee includes high rank jurists such as the President of Cassation Court to be the head of the committee, as well as several members. According to Egypt's contitution's article 206 "The National Elections Commission is an independent authority and shall be solely competent to administer referenda and elections of the president, the parliament and the local councils" The National Elections Commission is also responsible for the development and updating of voters database, proposing the division of constituencies, determination of controls for promotion and funding of electoral campaigns, as well as electoral expenditure, the disclosure of such expenditure, the supervision of such controls, the facilitation of the procedures for out-of-country voting by expatriate Egyptians, and other procedures till the announcements of the results Constitution's article 228 states that the High Electoral Committee and the Presidential Election Committee existing at the time this Constitution comes into force shall undertake the full supervision of the first parliamentary and presidential elections following the effective date of the Constitution.
