Political parties condemned the assassination of public prosecutor, Hisham Barakat after targeting his convoy Monday morning, Al Bawaba newspaper reported. Chairman of Independence Current, Ahmed Al Fadaly condemned in a statement to the newspaper the terrorist attack that targeted the convoy of the public prosecutor, describing the incident as an act of cowardness. Al Fadaly accused the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) terrorist group and its supporters of being responsible for the incident, explaining that they are fed up with the public prosecutor's decision against the group's leaders. He said that such terrorist acts will not prevent the Egyptian state from going after terrorists and prosecuting them, in reference to the MBs and their supporters. He called upon the Egyptian people to unite behind the country's leadership to eradicate terrorism. Furthermore, he pointed out that the terrorist attack which occurred today brings to mind the MB's terrorist attacks that targeted the Office of the public attorney general during the 40s in the last century, praying to God to refute terrorist schemes. Head of Reform and Development Party, Anwar Sadat also condemned the assassination of the public prosecutor, saying that terrorism will not affect the march of the people and army, police and judiciary towards eradicating the roots of terrorism all costs. Sadat added that the assassination of Barakat indicates the barbarism and the desire of MBs for revenge, as a result of their leaders receiving court verdicts against them. Meanwhile, Spokesman for Al Tagamou Party, Abdel Nasser Kandil also condemned the assassination of Barakat, but accused the authorities of neglecting to perform their duties in efficiently securing the public prosecutor. Kandil explained that the reason for the occurrence of the terrorist attack is that the security plan was always the same, stressing that such plan should has been changed. He demanded a review of the protection procedures of the public figures and the expulsion of both the Qatari and Turkish ambassadors from Cairo. Also, Spokesman for Strong Egypt Party condemned the assassination of Barakat, saying that those who commit acts of terrorism are deranged and mentally ill persons.
