Egypt's commando forces killed on Sunday two militants and arrested five others in southern Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai, Al Bawaba News reported. The arrestees, wearing military uniforms, were possessing automatic rifles and explosives, security sources revealed. All legal actions were taken against the detainees. Egypt has carried out a military strategy against militants in the restive Sinai following a series of terrorist attacks targeting security personnel and civilians, attacks for which the Islamic State-related Wilayat Sinai has repeatedly claimed responsibilities. The strategy included constructing a buffer zone on eastern border with the Islamist-run Gaza Strip from where weapons and militants were allegedly smuggled into the volatile peninsula.
