Egypt's President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi apologized Sunday to Egyptian lawyers for the police's assaults against them, following the Bar Association's one-day strike, Al Bawaba News reported. "I apologize to lawyers, and I urge all state authorities to respect citizens ... We should be role models," Sisi said on the sidelines of inaugurating new development projects. Egyptian Lawyers have organized a general strike on Saturday, to protest police assaults and violations against lawyers in different police stations across the country. Chairperson of the Bar Association, Sameh Ashour called for the strike last week in response to the assault on lawyer Emad Fahmy in Damietta's Farskour police station, prompting anger among lawyers across the nation.
