A criminal court in Egypt's northern province of Kafr El-Sheikh acquitted Sunday 11 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) affiliates in the case publicly known as "Lifting the Holy Qur'an", Al-Bawaba News reported. The court found the 11 defendants not guilty of charges of insulting police and military personnel, blocking roads and breaking the Protest Law, judicial sources said. The newly-acquitted MBs had been arrested on November 28 during a violent demonstration the MB-allied Salafist Front called for to overthrow the incumbent regime. The MB group was listed as terrorist in Sep. 2013 following a string of deadly terrorist attacks against security personnel and civilians particularly in the restive Sinai Peninsula.
