US-led coalition carries out 13 airstrikes in Iraq, Syria

The US-led military coalition has launched 12 airstrikes in Iraq and one in Syria targeting the strongholds of the Islamic State (IS) militants since Monday, according to a statement issued by the Combined Joint Task Force on Tuesday.
The airstrikes took place between 8 am on Monday and 8 am on Tuesday local time, the task force said.
The airstrike in Syria targeted IS positions near Al Hasakah, the statement said. It added that attacks in Iraq near Bayji, Fallujah, Mosul, Ramadi and Tal Afar were carried out by bomber, fighter and drone aircrafts.
