President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met in Cairo with visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti earlier Saturday. Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry attended the meeting. Karti handed over an invitation to Sisi to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Omar al Bashir, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said. Sisi asked Karti to convey his best regards to Bashir, Youssef said. He, once again, congratulated Bashir on winning the Sudanese presidential election, the spokesman added. Sisi wished Bashir success in his job, Youssef noted. The president also hailed as "deep" and "historical" relations between the two Nile countries, Youssef said. He talked about the unity of the Nile Valley's Egypt and Sudan. Egyptians are looking forward to boosting relations with the Sudanese people at the popular and official levels, Sisi told Karti. Karti said Sudan is also seeking to develop ties with Egypt in all fields. He said the Qastal-Ashkit land terminal between Egypt and Sudan, which was recently inaugurated, further proves the ability of both countries to facilitate obstacles standing in the way of boosting bilateral cooperation. Sisi stressed the vital importance of the crossing in reviving inter-trade, the presidential spokesman said.
