FM Sameh Shoukry discussed Egypt's non-permanent membership in the U.N. Security Council with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Al Ahram newspaper reported Saturday. Spokesperson for the Ministry, Ambassador Badr Abdelatty said that Shoukry was keen on reviewing Egypt's candidacy for the non-permanent Security Council seat allocated to North Africa in 2016-2017, a seat that rotates between North Africa and West Asia. Abdelatty said the minister pointed out to the U.N. Secretary-General that Egypt already had all the Arab and African support it needed for the membership.
