Iraqi forces liberated Saturday Baiji refinery, 209 kilometers north of Baghdahd, from Islamic State (IS) militants, while Peshmerga forces seized control over IS' main strongholds, south of Kirkuk, RT reported. Iraqi forces killed more than 100 IS militants during the fight to liberate the refinery, a security source who asked to remain anonymous told RT. The source added that the Peshmerga forces liberated the villages of Al Azizia and Al Atshana, south of Kirkuk, leaving dozens of IS militants killed.
