At least one person was killed and five were wounded Friday in a car bomb explosion targeting U.S. consulate in Erbil, capital of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq, Al Bawaba News reported. "A car bomb exploded outside the entrance to the U.S. consulate, it seems that the consulate was the target", mayor of Erbil's city, Nihad Qoja told Reuters. U.S State Department confirmed that no U.S. personnel were killed in the explosion that was caused by a car bomb near the consulate. Islamic State jihadist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
