The United Arab Emirates on Friday slammed a Pakistani decision to stay out of the conflict in Yemen, rejecting Saudi requests to join "Operation Decisive Storm" against Houthi militia. Anwar Gargash, the UAE's minister of state for foreign affairs, lashed out at Pakistan's vote on his Twitter account accusing it of choosing Iran over the Gulf nations at a time when they face an "existential confrontation" in the Yemen conflict. Tehran seems to be more important to Islamabad and Ankara than the Gulf countries, said Gargash in one of his tweets. Meanwhile, the military spokesperson for "Operation Decisive Storm," Brigadier General Ahmed Asiri, pointed out on Friday that the Pakistani government had not yet announced its official position. Speaking to reporters, Asiri said that while Pakistan's participation would be an addition to the coalition, its absence in the operation wouldn't affect the coalition's work.
