Egypt's Foreign Ministry has finished evacuation procedures of 145 Egyptians fleeing turmoil-hit Yemen, foreign ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Atty said on Monday. Abdel Atty added that the Egyptian expats have crossed the Saudi Arabia border of "Al-Tawal" from Yemen Sunday in preparation of lifting them back to Egypt on regular flights taking off from Jeddah. Abdel Atty asserted that the Egyptian consulates in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Djibouti are coordinating with governmental authorities there to facilitate the return of Egyptian expats, noting that the total number of Egyptians evacuated from Yemen since the start of military operations has reached 525 people. Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies launched March 26 the ‘Storm of Resolve' military operation to counter Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels who have taken over several cities in Yemen, including the capital Sana'a.
