Hammam Attia, who was shot dead in a gunfire exchange with security forces early Sunday, is the leader of Ajnad Misr Islamist terrorist group, and arguably one of the 10 most dangerous terrorists as per Ministry of Interior, according to reports. Security forces have been tracking Hammam for two years, as he moved from a place to another to commit a number of crimes. Security sources told Al Bawaba News that Hammam Mohamed Ahmed Attia had participated in the Rab'aa sit-in, where he managed to form new terrorist networks by attracting and recruiting young members of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group. The sources revealed that Hammam who resided in Nasr City has met with young jihadists to manufacture explosives -authorities confirmed finding 18 bombs at his place- and form a cluster of cells from the young Brotherhood members. The sources confirmed that police found mobile phones, plans for future terrorist attacks and video clips portraying terrorist attacks in his apartment. Investigation revealed that Hamama has participated in several terrorist operations including the attack on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that targeted one of the witnesses in the Great Escape case of MB leaders in 2011, which left a police officer killed. Hammam was backed by the Muslim Brotherhood international organization, as he participated in the attack on peaceful protesters in front of Etehadya Presidential Palace in the case publicly known as the "bloody Wednesday."
