Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation resumed Wednesday the evacuation of Egyptian nationals fleeing the unrest in Libya, airlifting at least 134 Egyptians on board an Egypt Air flight via Tunisia's Djerba–Zarzis International Airport. Officials at Cairo International Airport said that, so far, 57 Egypt Air evacuation flights have brought back a total of 11500 nationals fleeing the unrest in Libya, following the execution of 21 Egyptian Christians by Islamic State militants in Sirte, mid-February. Cooperation is ongoing between the Egyptian Ministries of Civil Aviation and Foreign Affairs to estimate the number of Egyptians still stranded in the conflict-torn country, so as to prepare a sufficient number of flights to bring them home.
