At least 959 Egyptians were airlifted home from Libya by way of Tunisia on Friday morning, officials at Cairo International Airport said. The officials, who refused to be named, said that the evacuated Egyptians arrived aboard four Egypt Air flights coming from Tunisia's Djerba–Zarzis International Airport. They added that more flights were expected to arrive later on Friday. Nearly 5077 Egyptians fleeing the conflict in Libya have been evacuated aboard 20 Egypt Air flights in the wake of the Egyptian authorities urging citizens working in Libya to come home. The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation said in an earlier statement that there was an ongoing follow-up with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to estimate the number of Egyptians stranded in the conflict-torn country, so as to calculate the number of flights needed to bring them home.
