Former national security adviser to Iraq, Mowaffak Al Rubaie revealed an Iraqi initiative to resolve the Yemeni crisis, Iraqi State TV reported Saturday. Al Rubaie said that the Iraqi initiative regarding Yemeni crisis include the cessation of military operations and reaching a national reconciliation, and then conducting free elections. He added that the Iraqi initiative also includes leaving the Yemeni people to decide their own destiny. Yemen has witnessed massive violent clashes between the Houthi fighters and the national forces during the last few years causing instability and chaos in the country. The Houthis participated in the Yemeni demonstrations in 2011 that ousted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. They took part in the National Dialogue Conference in February 2014, which called for making Yemen a federation of six regions.
