The Bahraini ministry of Interior announced Thursday that two police officers were injured in an explosion near the capital Manama, Sky News Arabia reported. The interior ministry postedThursday night, on its official Twitter account, that a "Terrorist blast injured two on-duty policemen in Karana village #Bahrain. Police at the scene," giving no further details. Witnesses confirmed that an explosion had occurred at the village's entrance and that the police had cordoned off the blast site. Bahrain witnessed mass protests of Shiite demonstrators in the wake of the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011.
