The Kurdistan regional government in Iraq announced Saturday that it has several evidence that Islamic State (IS) Jihadist group used chlorine gas as a chemical weapon against the Kurdish Peshmerga forces. The government revealed that the Peshmerga fighters took soil and clothing samples after an IS suicide bombing in northern Iraq in January. "The samples contained levels of chlorine that suggested the substance were used in weaponized form", the government stated. On Thursday, Iraqi military officers have reported that the fight against IS near Tikrit became difficult because the jihadist group are using chlorine gas. Chlorine is a toxic gas that was discovered by Carl Wilhelm Scheelein 1774 and first used as a weapon in World War I by Germany on April 22, 1915 in the Second Battle of Ypres. The toxic gas causes suffocation.
