International coalition led by the United States announced Tuesday that it has cut the route that Islamic State (IS) uses to transfer its militants between Syria and Iraq in Tel Hamis area northeast Syria. The coalition said in a statement that IS "no longer enjoys a margin of maneuver in the region", as a result of cutting "communication methods used by IS to send men and support to Iraq, in Tal Afar and Mosul". The statement read: "anti-IS forces backed by international coalition's air raids seized control of a key area last week near Tel Hamis in the Syrian province of Al-Hasakah". Furthermore, the coalition revealed that anti-IS forces seized control of "vital sections" of road 47 that links eastern Syria with Iraqi cities of Tal Afar and Mosul. Kurdish fighters seized control on February 27 of the eastern and southern parts of Tel Hamis in northeastern Al-Hasakah, after heavy clashes with IS militants that lasted for six days.
