The militants of Islamic State (IS) in Iraq withdrew from Qayyarah Air Base, known as Saddam air-base south Mosul, in Iraq, Anadolu agency reported Thursday. The IS militants seized the air base and took it as jail for their prisoners, but it was severely damaged by the airstrikes of the US-led International Coalition late February, forcing IS to evacuate it from all prisoners and bombed all its buildings before they leave, according to Iraqi security source. The source asserted that the coalition air strikes caused serious damages in the air-base, and killed dozens of the militants, noting that the were some Iraqi civilians from Mosul, and they were moved to unknown place.
