The Attorney General Hisham Barakat announced Monday the release of 120 students and old people who were under preventive custody, the Youm7 reported . The prosecution stated that the decision inline with a previously announced statement by the Attorney General in November 2013, ordering the technical office to review precisely the legal status of all the remanded detainees over charges of violence, in a statement released by the prosecution. According to Anadolu agency, the prosecution asserted it had collected compelling evidences against all remanded detainees that they committed criminal offenses, pointing out that the law allows the detainees to petition against their detention. Egypt's President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi pledged, during a televised speech last week, that a number of prisoners, who did not commit violent acts against the state, are expected to be released soon.
