Egypt's Ministry of Health announced that an explosion occurred in Aswan, Upper Egypt, Sunday leaving 2 people dead and 11 wounded, according to a ministerial statement issued Monday. The injured were taken to Aswan University hospital for treatment, nine of them are in stable condition, the statement read. Sunday, Head of Aswan's Detectives office, Khalid Al Shazly, had stated that an improvised explosive device had been planted near Al Nasr Mosque in Aswan, adding that Security forces had rushed to the crime scene to search for any other planted explosives. No claims have been made for the attack.
