Update: 2 police officers injured in Alf Maskan explosion
Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 01 - 2015

Two police officers were injured after an improvised explosive device targeting a Central Security Forces position exploded on Sunday morning, state-run newspaper Al-Ahram reported.
The device detonated close to the Alf Maskan area of eastern Cairo, near the entrance to El-Shams Sporting Club.
Other explosions targeted a main gas pipeline, two buses and five ‘electric transformers' located in residential neighbourhoods in the 10th of Ramadan City in Sharqeya on Sunday with no reported casualties, according to state media.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior said it "thwarted a terrorist plot" on Sunday morning, as it captured a 23-year old "terrorist" attempting to plant an explosive device at Abu Zaabal police station.
In its statement, the ministry also reported that two unidentified men died attempting to plant an improvised explosive device near an electric tower in a village in Beheira governorate on Sunday morning. The device, however, detonated whilst the suspects were planting it. Explosive experts later located another device and dismantled it. Investigations are currently being held to identify the suspects.
In the early hours of Saturday, 3 explosions occurred in Beheira and Sharqeya governorates, leading to the collapse of an electricity tower and a power outage in Beheira. Damage also occurred leading to the partial collapse of a railroad tunnel in Zagazig, Sharqeya.
Friday night witnessed an explosion near the Itihadeya Palace in Heliopolis, Cairo, injuring four police conscripts.
