The Peshmerga thwart attack by IS in Sinjar, northern Iraq

Peshmerga Kurdish forces have thwarted Saturday an Islamic State jihadist group attack in Sinjar, northern Iraq.
Kurdish sources said that IS clashed with Peshmerga for an hour, adding that the Kurdish forces have shelled IS' positions to prevent them from progress.
The Peshmerga is the military force of Iraqi Kurdistan, which decided in August 2014 to fight against IS after it seized large areas in Iraq and Syria.
