Students affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood demonstrated Sunday at the Social Studies Service Institute in Kerdasa village, holding the famous ISIS black flag and chanting slogans against the Egyptian state, Al Bawaba News reported. This is the first time for students affiliated to the Brotherhood to hold an ISIS flag during a protest, since they started demonstrating on university campuses across the nation after former President Mohamed Morsi's ouster, and his MB-backed government in July 2013. Kerdasa, a village in Giza and part of Greater Cairo, is a hot spot for Islamist groups. It witnessed deadly attacks against security forces, as elements of the Brotherhood attempted to storm the Kerdasa police station in August 2013, killing at least 11 policemen. Earlier this month, the Giza Criminal Court sentenced 183 out of 188 defendants to death over the Kerdasa attacks. Last November, the Sinai-based extremist group, Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis pledged allegiance to ISIS, calling themselves "Wilayat Sinai" or the Province of Sinai and claiming responsibility for attacks on Egyptian police personnel and army troops, mostly in Sinai and sometimes in the capital.
