Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab stressed Friday that Egypt won't allow Houthis in Yemen to control Bab El-Mandeb strait by any means necessary. RT reported that three more Egyptian officials, who asked to remain anonymous, confirmed that Egypt has prepared a quick interfering force that can play a major role in confronting Houthis in case they captured Bab El-Mandeb strait, which is of strategic importance for the shipping lanes in the Red Sea. This force runs a security and intelligence operations in the Red Sea from its headquarters in Suez governorate. The officials added that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are coordinating a joint military response to deal with any possible threat by Houthis. On the 4th of February, the Egyptian army has threatened military intervention in case the strait was closed, confirming that the army was ready to enter the conflict to protect the country's interests using the air force to bomb areas or entities that might form a threat on the strait.
