Egypt's Sisi stresses need for political solution in Yemen crisis The Egyptian president discussed with the Yemeni FM the latest developments in Yemen during a meeting in Cairo
During a meeting with Yemeni FM Abdel-Malek El-Mekhlafi in Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stressed on the importance of having a political solution in Yemen based on the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and UN decisions. According to a statement released by presidency spokesman Alaa Youssef, El-Sisi discussed with El-Mekhlafi the latest developments in Yemen, including the UN talks, and the importance of securing the Red Sea's Bab El-Mandeb strait. El-Mekhlafi delivered to El-Sisi a message from Yemeni President Abd Rabbou Mansour Hady, who praised Egypt's support of Yemen. Egypt's FM Sameh Shoukry attended the meeting along with the permanent representative of Yemen at the League of Arab States in Cairo. Egypt is participating with its naval and air forces in the Saudi-led military coalition against the Iranian-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen.
