Hamas spokesperson Samy Abu Zahri dismissed columnist Abdel Rahim Ali's allegations that the movement had sent 2,000 fighters of the Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, to conduct terrorist attacks in Sinai, in a video released by Al-Jazeera on Thursday. Abu Zahri accused the Egyptian columnist of falsely claiming that Hamas had provided logistic support for the militants in the Sinai Peninsula. His accusations implicitly incite violence against Abdel Rehim Ali. An expert on Islamic Movements, Ali said, during an interview on Faraeen channel, that the leaders of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, (MB), met after the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi to set up a "war council" against Egypt. He stated that Hamas had sent 2,000 fighters to attack the Egyptian Army, adding that the Palestinian movement was involved in the jail breaks that occurred during the 25 January Uprising. An Egyptian court last week banned the Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, and designated it as a ‘terrorist group'.
