Palestinian NGO Prisoner's Society announced Monday that Israeli forces arrested 350 Palestinians in January. The NGO said in a statement that Israeli forces arrested 120 Palestinians from Hebron, 60 from the east of Jerusalem, 42 from Ramallah and the neighboring city of al-Bireh, 38 from Jenin, 35 from Nablus, Jerusalem, 19 from Qalqilya, and 19 others from Bethlehem and surrounding areas. 11 Palestinians from the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, 6 from the city of Tubas, northeast of Nablus were also arrested by Israeli forces. Two women over 20 were among the detainees, raising the number of Palestinian females currently detained at Israeli prisons to 24. The number of administrative detainees in Israeli prisons reached 450, and the number of Palestinian children held at prison number 214. Prisoner's Society issued a report in December saying that Israel arrested 383 Palestinians across the West Bank that month. During recent months, Israeli forces have regularly invaded Palestinians' houses in West Bank, arresting dozens, and putting many in jails to without charge. Numerous reports have highlighted the deteriorating health conditions of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. More than 7 thousand Palestinians are reportedly to be held at 17 Israeli prisons, including 540 held without any charge. Israel uses an administrative detention law to arrest Palestinians without any charge for periods ranging from one month to six months, a period which can be renewed.
