Al Wafd newspaper reported that Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry agreed Saturday with his counterpart Salah Eddine Mezouar that their countries should join forces to combat terrorism. Shoukry visited Morocco on 15 and 16 January to meet with his counterpart to deliver President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's message to the people of Morocco regarding combating terrorism. Also, Shoukry stressed during the meeting on the importance of uniting against terrorism and cooperating between the two countries to end the danger of extremism. The two sides called for joint international efforts to combat terrorism in all its kinds, especially via the Global Forum for combating terrorism, and to address the risk of foreign fighters. Moreover, the two ministers confirmed their country's intention to coordinate between each other to combat extremism and terrorism, especially in North and West Africa, in addition to spreading moderate Islam. The relations between Egypt and Morocco had deteriorated recently, after the Moroccan TV attacked the President, describing him as coup leader, while describing ousted President, Mohamed Morsi as the democratically-elected president.
