Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry visited Monday Kenya in a three days trip to boost economic cooperation between the two countries. Dostor newspaper reported that Shoukry met with his counterpart and will also meet Minister of Environment, Water and Natural Resources in Kenya. El-Fagr newspaper revealed that Shoukry discussed the importance of supporting relations with African states, like Kenya and the urgent need to work on common interests, in addition to opening new opportunities for investment. He stressed that Egypt aims to activate the existing economic and political frameworks between the two countries, which will be in the best interests of the African people. He pointed out that Kenya should seize the investment opportunities in Egypt especially that the Egyptian market has a large scale of competitiveness, which will benefit all African states and their people. Furthermore, Shoukry stated that the talks also included bilateral relations between the two countries and a number of regional issues, particularly African issues, pointing out that there was a common desire to strengthen relations between the two countries. He said that the discussions also dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East and the situation in Libya, Nigeria, and Somalia. In addition to, he highlighted the importance of working with Kenya to combat terrorism. Egypt supports Kenya with medical aid, equipment, and training, in addition to building Kenyan medical services for its people, out of sense of responsibility and solidarity.
