The "Moderate Islamic Front" condemned the smear campaign against Al-Azhar after it refused to label members of ISIS as unbelievers. On Wednesday the front explained, that there are groups that aim to minimize Al- Azhar's role. Azhar had previously refused to categorize members of ISIS as nonbelievers, indicating that Islam forbids Muslims to consider other Muslims as atheists, no matter how bad their actions are. Moreover, the "Salafist Front" slammed yesterday, what they described as "media attack" that targeted Al- Azhar and its scientists. Head of "Nour" Salafist party, Younes Makhioun, condemned the attack by number of television anchors against Al-Azhar, pointing out that its possible negative impact on the society. Al-Azhar is one of the oldest and the most important religious institutes in the Muslim world and it is known of its moderate concepts.
