Al Azhar University dismissed permanently Wednesday 71 students who were involved in violent protests on campus, according to university administration. Al Azhar University also declared that midterm exams will be held based on a schedule approved by the university council and would not be postponed despite any expected violence. Students affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood have been organizing violent protests on university campus since 2013, calling for the return of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi. Several courts across egypt have issued sentences against more than a 100 Azhar students convicted in violence-related cases, ranging from 3 to 5 years in prison and 100.000 EGP fines.
