Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will travel to Jordan Thursday to discuss issues of joint concern with King Abdullah II, presidential spokesman said. Discussions between the two leaders will also deal with ways of tightening bilateral relations between Jordan and Egypt. The meeting is held at a time of diverse regional crises and challenges facing the two nations, such as the spread of extremism and mounting tensions between Palestine and Israel. It will be the first visit by the Egyptian leader to the kingdom after the Jordanian monarch has visited Cairo last month. Jordan has backed Egypt's new government since the ousting of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, after mass protests against his rule.
