Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, left for China Sunday heading a high-level delegation to discuss energy cooperation between the two countries and prepare for Al Sisi's upcoming visit to Beijing. The countries' future joint cooperation is expected to encompass both traditional and renewable energies. Shaker's visit also aims at preparing for President Al-Sisi three-day visit to China later this month.
Al Sisi's aims to create a kind of strategic partnership with China, according to Egypt's International Cooperation Minister Naglaa al-Ahwani. Ahwani indicated that Egypt seeks to attract more Chinese investments, and that "concerned ministers provided a number of project proposals to be tackled with the Chinese side." She pointed out that the delegation visiting China now is studying these projects with the Chinese side. The minister also expressed her belief that Chinese companies can participate in Suez Canal region.
