Minister of International Cooperation Naglaa Ahwani signed today with the EU delegation in Cairo the third phase of a project designed to combat industrial pollution in Egypt, according to statements issued by the ministry. The agreement was signed by Head of EU delegation in Cairo James Moran, French Ambassador Andre Baran and Head of Near East sector of the European Investment Bank Natalie Clemence. The project, executed by Egypt's Environmental Affairs Agency and National Bank, aims at reducing levels of pollution in the country resulting from industrial sectors. The final goal is to improve the country's overall environmental situation in order to attract more investments. The total cost of the third phase will amount to 150 million euros. 70 million of which will be provided by the European Investment Bank, 50 million by the French Development Agency and 15.5 million by the German KFW Development Bank. The EU will participate with 10 million euros, the Egyptian government contributing the remaining 4.4 million.
