Security forces detained senior Muslim Brotherhood leader and former local development minister Mohamed Ali Beshr early Thursday in Menoufia, a source in the Menoufia Security Directorate said. He said that Beshr has been detained upon an arrest warrant issued by the prosecution over charges of incitement to violence, illegal protests and joining an outlawed group. This incident came after the Islamists' calls over the country to stage an "Islamic revolution" on November 28. The pro-Brotherhood social media pages confirmed the security reports on Thursday. Following the ousting of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, the Egyptian government designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group and started to detain the leading figures of the group including the Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and Khayrat al-Shater among many others.
