The first Cairo International Exhibition of Innovation (Cairo Innovates) was launched yesterday and will last for two days at the American University Campus in Tahrir, according to the statements of Minister of Communications and Information Technology. The event is organized under the sponsorships of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and is organized by "Nahdet el-Mahrousa" Association. Cairo Innovates aims to "create a new generation of inventors and encourages the research community in Egypt as it gathers innovators of different governorates with the scientific entrepreneurship sector," according to the ministry's statements. Number of technology start-up inventions supported by the Academy in different sectors of food, energy, health, as well as inventions tackling security challenges participated in the exhibition. One of the main events during the second day of the exhibition was a panel that witnessed discussions regarding development of performance measurement and innovation index in the Middle East. More panel discussions and round tables are to take place in "Cairo Innovates" to discuss the future of investment, research and innovation programs in addition to marketing the prototypes as well as the importance of big data and analysis to ensure success of start-ups.
