As part of an initiative to promote Egyptian products in the Qatari market, the "Made in Egypt" exhibition will be held in Doha next month, Eman Youssef reports The exhibition will be organised by the Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA), formerly known as the General Organisation for International Exhibitions and Fairs (GOIEF), in collaboration with Al-Nayrouz Company for Advertising and Marketing. Some 200 Egyptian companies representing various sectors will participate in the exhibition, which will be held 17-23 October at the Doha Exhibition Centre on an area of 10,000 square metres, according to Ahmed El-Deeb, EECA chairman. The event, which will be held under the auspices of Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil and Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani, Qatari prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, is expected to attract an unprecedented number of visitors and businessmen keen to make fruitful business deals with and invest in Egypt. The exhibition will include real estate, industrial ventures and a trade fair for direct sales. Participant companies will display variety of Egyptian products ranging from building and construction tools, to furniture, glass and aluminium products, as well as banking, insurance and tourism services. "This is a perfect time for Egyptian businessmen to participate in the fair in order to overcome the economic crises and to enter the flourishing Qatari market," Islam Borhan, executive manager of Al-Nayrouz, told Al-Ahram Weekly. Emphasising the role of businessmen in helping the economy to recover, El-Deeb said that the exhibition is a great opportunity to interact with businessmen abroad, especially in Qatar due to renewed trade and political relations between the two countries. According to the Central Bank of Egypt, Qatari investment in Egypt climbed 74 per cent to a total amount of $13.2 million in the first quarter of 2012. Egyptian history will also be well represented at the fair in a special pavilion for Egyptian culture, including a museum, in cooperation with the Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Authority.
