Egypt's , 20, captured the silver medal at the 2011 African Shooting Championship for men and women in trap, skeet and double trap. Gaber was the only female Egyptian shooter in the trap and the youngest member on the national team, Ghada Abdel-Kader reports The championship, reportedly the biggest of its kind ever held on the continent in terms of the number of participants, was played in Rabat, Morocco, from 25 May to 3 June. Gaber was the only woman to shoot a perfect round of 25/25 in the trap, securing a place in the final with a total score of 62 targets. She shot the highest score in the final yet finished three targets behind Namibia's 29-year-old Gaby Ahrens. Gaber has been shooting for only four years under the supervision of the president of Egypt's Federation Medhat Wahdan and the world renowned American coach Lloyd Woodhouse. Gaber is a fourth year English literature student at the Faculty of Arts. She is currently studying for her finals as well as preparing for the upcoming International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Shooting Cup in Slovenia to be held from 7 to 16 July. Gaber aims at booking a ticket in the 2012 London Olympics. After the final, coaches and players alike took turns lavishing praise on Gaber for her technique and speed. In the next few years, experts predict this talented shooter will win her share of medals in African and international events.
