By Ahmed Morsy The Egyptian U-23 national team won the first leg 2-0 but lost the away second leg 2-1, reports Ahmed Morsy. In the away game, Botswana took a two-goal lead before Egypt forward Marawan Mohsen pulled one back after heading home a lengthy throw-in to give Egypt a 3-2 aggregate win. The young Pharaohs carved out a number of clear-cut opportunities in the first half but failed to translate their dominance into goals. Ahli midfielder Shehab Ahmed could have drawn the game after one of his trademark thunderbolts went just past the right post. "Today's game was a tough lesson for the (Egyptian) players. They should learn not to waste so many clear- cut scoring chances," head coach Hani Ramzi said after the match. "On the other hand, I praise my team for ousting Botswana as their squad includes many players of their first national team which was the first team to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations." Egypt are bidding to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time since the 1992 tournament in Barcelona. The African draw for the second round of London 2012 was scheduled to be conducted at the headquarters of the African federation, or CAF, in Cairo on 13 April at 10am. Sixteen teams will enter the draw with home and away matches to be played on 3, 4, 5 June for first legs and the return legs on 17, 18, 19 June 2011. The next and final stage will see the introduction of a new qualifying system. Three teams are to represent CAF at the London 2012 Olympics with a fourth African team meeting a team from Asia in a play-off match to be held on 12 April 2012 in London. Meanwhile, CAF has postponed for the second time the Egypt vs Libya qualifying match to the African Olympics in Mozambique. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on its official website that it had received a letter from the CAF informing them of the rescheduling of the game and asking Egypt to choose a date between 24 and 26 June. The qualifier was previously scheduled to be played in Cairo, between 16 and 17 April, after security reasons prevented Libya, in the middle of a popular revolt, from being able to host it. The winner of the two countries, both in the grips of revolutionary change, will book a ticket to the Mozambique Olympics which will be held between 3 and 18 September.
