The daughter of late president Anwar El-Sadat's nephew is back with her family after being abducted, reports Reem Leila Six men have been arrested and charged with kidnapping Zeina Effat El-Sadat, the 12 year-old grandniece of President Anwar Al-Sadat. The daughter of businessman Effat El-Sadat was abducted by gunmen in two cars on 3 April as she was on her way to school. She was being driven to school in a family car when one of the gunmen's cars intercepted them and forced his way into the girl's vehicle. The kidnappers forced the driver to Qaha city in Al-Qalioubiya governorate. The driver was then beaten and tied up by kidnappers while the girl was forced into another car. The driver has reported the incident at Qaha city police station. At a press conference on 4 April security officials said the abductors drove their victim through three Nile Delta provinces north of the Egyptian capital before they released her on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road at an oil station 100 kilometres from Cairo. Police then arrested the masked abductors at Kom Hamada city of Al-Beheira governorate at 4am. Police officers at a check point stopped two cars being driven after the curfew. In one of the cars was a briefcase containing the ransom money. Effat El-Sadat, former MP for Tala in Menoufiya, was contacted by abductors who demanded a ransom. After long negotiations El-Sadat said the kidnappers instructed him not to report the incident to the police. "They asked me to leave the money beside a deserted factory in Menoufiya. Half an hour after delivering the money I was told that they had left my daughter at a cafeteria on the Cairo-Desert road. I did not find her there. The gang -- they were very evasive -- then told me where she really was." During the press conference El-Sadat stated that "security officers should not fear anyone as long as they are abiding by the law and enforcing it". "They reunited me with my daughter in less than 24 hours. I believe the police must return to the streets at full capacity." The six men charged with kidnapping are Ahmed Mamdouh Fathallah, Abdel-Galil Mahrous Diab, Mohamed Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim, Ahmed Ramadan Ahmed, Ismail Mohamed Kishk and Mustafa Fathallah Hassan. All are from Tanoub village in Menoufiya governorate. According to security officials they all confessed to the kidnapping under questioning. Kidnapping is uncommon in Egypt but has increased since thousands of prison convicts escaped and police disappeared since 28 January. Police forces are back on the street but not in full force.
