Horoscopes:
All sweetness and light
By Imhotep
Love is in the air. Venus, the planet of love and romance, will soon be fully exposed, standing naked before the Sun from the Earth's point of view. The Venus transit falls on 8 June, and Imhotep urges all those born under a Sun sign ruled by Venus -- Taurus and Libra -- to gear up for major emotional adjustments.
The next Venus transit is in 2012. So 8 June is a vitally important astrological date. From 16-17 May to 29-30 June, Venus will be in retrograde motion, and the passions it arouses in the hearts of those under its influence are, to put it mildly, not easily controlled.
Those fortunate people whose Moon sign is ruled by Venus should also expect a world much more joyous than they ever imagined.
Many people know their Sun sign, but few take the trouble to find out what their Moon sign is. Here is a chance for all those whose Moon sign is ruled by Venus -- again, Taurus and Libra -- to re-kindle the flames of a long lost love story.
It's a golden opportunity, so grab it. If your Sun sign is Aires but your Moon sign is Taurus or Libra, then you will be positively influenced by the Venus transit. If your Sun sign is Gemini and your Moon sign is Taurus or Libra, then you are especially favoured by the heavens. There is no limit to what you can do.
People born under the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries (21 Mar-21 Apr), especially those with a Taurus or Libra Ascendant, will be comforted by nice thoughts in June. Precipitated by an uncharacteristic profound crisis of confidence at the beginning of the month, the typical Rams, as Arians are sometimes called, will find solace in calming sanctuaries, perhaps even yoga retreats.
For those Rams with no hideaways to escape to, comfort foods and therapeutic treatments might come in handy. Stubborn and headstrong Rams will be shocked by a bracing experience that will get them back in touch with their innate sixth sense and with the more intuitive side of their natures.
People born under the Fixed Earth sign of Taurus (22 Apr-22 May) shall revel in the joys the Venus transit bequeaths in early and mid- June.
Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus. So Taureans should have the time of their lives in June. The positive will be highlighted, giving Taureans the chance to exploit to the full the benign forces of love and life.
But again, one must always take note of the influence of one's Moon sign. When I first introduced this column, I advised people to find out what their Ascendant, Love, Passion and Power signs are, because the influences of these signs either profoundly moderate or accentuate an individual's Sun sign attributes.
Take Saddam Hussein, for example. His Sun sign is Taurus, being born on 28 April 1937. His Moon sign, however is Scorpio, ruled by both bellicose Mars and furtive Pluto -- and hence his combative nature and obsession with conspiracy theories.
His predilection for military uniforms and battle fatigues -- even though he had no formal military training -- and his predisposition to dispense with justice -- even though he studied law -- are explained more by his Moon sign, Scorpio, than by his Sun sign, Taurus.
For people born under the Mutable Air sign of Gemini (23 May-22 Jun) the month of June heralds the dawn of a new beginning. With Venus in Gemini during the Venus transit, the creative energies of Geminians will reach new heights.
Ruled by the planet Mercury, Geminians excel at communication, writing, reading, reporting, photography, filming, documenting, storytelling, talking and listening. They might not always appear attentive, but they are surely listening. As Venus passes across the disc of the Sun, the Gemini man, in particular, will experience a blissful period that perfectly suits his character.
