Egypt denies reports attributed to industry minister, warns of legal action
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 02 - 2026

Egypt's Ministry of Industry on Thursday denied reports circulating online that attributed comments to the country's new industry minister about struggling, shuttered, and under-construction factories, calling the statements inaccurate.
In an official statement, the ministry said Minister Khaled Hashem had not given any press interviews or public remarks since taking office beyond formal announcements issued by the ministry itself.
The statement added that the ministry would take legal action against social media accounts that it said were spreading false information.
The ministry urged journalists and members of the public to consult its official website and verified social media accounts for accurate updates on industrial policy and sector developments. It provided the following official channels:

The clarification comes as Egypt seeks to revive manufacturing activity and attract investment, with authorities closely monitoring factory performance and output levels.
