- Make sure you tell your masseuse how you want your session: light, medium or deep. Do it as you fill in your medical form. Some people respond to strong massages better, while others can't tolerate firm strokes. If you can't decide, ask for medium. You can always communicate with your masseuse later during the session if it is too much or too little. You are also free to choose whether to be massaged by a man or a woman.
- If you are going to be staying at your hotel for a long period of time, take advantage of the packages offered by the hotel's spa. For instance, the Daniela Steiner Spa at the Four Seasons Resort provides three-day packages for men and women. The programme for women costs $370 and includes exfoliating scalp, face and body with energy massage, followed by a classic facial and anti- cellulite wrap.
- Some hotels offer a one-day programme cocktailing facials, baths and massages. One example of such a programme is the three-hour "Cleopatra's Indulgence" session proposed by the Ritz-Carlton for $115. It starts off by pampering your hands and feet with a scrub, followed by a warm aromatic oil mask. A warming body glow and wrap then helps draw toxins from the body, soothing you with a relaxing oil massage. This truly royal session ends with a Cleopatra aromatic milk bath with essential oils.
- You don't have to enjoy spa treatments alone. There are always spaces available appropriate for your couple. At the Ritz-Carlton, "Honeymooner's Paradise" combines a full-body massage session with a seductive aromatic flower bath using rose and jasmine oils. This session can be enjoyed in the privacy of an Arabian tent overlooking the Red Sea, in your room or at the spa. If you choose the spa or tent, two glasses of wine and canapés will be waiting for you when you get back to your room. The cost is $105 per person. The Four Seasons Resort's spa has another way to provide luxury time for couples. A spa room with Jacuzzi and sauna can be put at their disposal by the hour, and bigger rooms are also available if they wish to combine that with massage sessions.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before your session begins. This allows you to relax at the spa's lounge and have a drink. This might be herbal tea, warm tea with honey, or any other drink offered at the spa.
- At any spa, you're free to use the sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and whirlpool before or after your treatment.
