EGYPT's volleyball team beat defending champions Tunisia 3-1 to win the 15th African Nations Volleyball Cup held in Cairo. The Egyptians needed two hours to beat the North Africans and qualify for the newly created six-team Grand Champions Cup scheduled for Japan in November. En route to the title, the Egyptians beat Cameroon, South Africa, Botswana and Nigeria in the group stage before knocking out Morocco in the semi-final and outclassing Tunisia in the final. The Egyptians, who were unbeaten throughout the one- week tournament, thus added the African title to the Mediterranean Games gold medal they won in June. Serbian coach Viscovitch Vazelin said the team will be looking forward to the tournament in Japan. "We have to be fully prepared for this championship. It includes the best six teams in the world and we have to prove ourselves. The players will rest a bit before going through an intensive training camp and friendly matches in preparation for the big event," Vazelin said.
