The American University in Cairo New Cairo Campus, Abdul Latif Jameel Hall, Plaza Level, Tel 02 2615 3318 The Photographic Gallery “Emile Béchard: An Orientalist in Nineteenth Century Cairo”, an exhibition organised by The Photographic Gallery with The Rare Books and Special Collections Library. This collection is on loan from AUC Trustee Philip Maritz. The exhibit of 53 nineteenth century sepia photos is a selection from French photographer Emile Bechard's Orientalist studies. It includes daily life scenes of street life, domestic life, market activities, Sufi dervishes, women and an assortment of portraits of Sheikh Al-Sadat, an important social figure of his time (14 February-22 March).

Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) 3 Abul-Fida St,2nd floor, Zamalek, Tel 02 2795 3705/ 2737 1995 “Lens”, a photography exhibition of the antiquity collection of the Museum of Islamic Arts hosted by the MACIC. The Museum of Islamic Arts had, in cooperation with Adasa Club in Alexandria, organized a photography competition in August 2017. More than 280 photographers participated in the competition, out of which the photos of 39 artists were selected for the exhibition. The exhibition of 64 photos will showcase the glimpses of artworks in different stages of Islamic civilization in different parts of the world. The photos include pottery, glassworks, manuscripts, jewelries, metals, weavings and Islamic arts. The photos were exhibited for the first time at the Museum of Islamic Arts on 10 October 2017 and at Port Said Cultural Palace on 11 January 2018 (4-15 February).

Bibliotheca Alexandrina Chatby, Alexandria 21526, Tel (03) 4839999 Entrance of the Antiquities Museum B1 Level “Abu Simbel: 200 Years After the Passing of Sheikh Ibrahim Burckhardt”, exhibition marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Swiss Orientalist Johann Ludwig Burckhardt—who discovered the Temple of Abu Simbel in Aswan—the BA Antiquities Museum organizes the exhibition, in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland, and the University of Basel in Switzerland. It showcases a number of plaques portraying the locations visited by Sheikh Ibrahim during his travels to Nubia, such as Philae, Abu Simbel, and Qasr Ibrim (closing13 February).
