‪“Living Units 2 Recessive Genes”, is an international touring group exhibition of contemporary art that emphasizes the need to live in harmony and equality between all individuals regardless of their appearance and genetic composition. Curator Lina Osama brought together 11 international artists, namely: Abdel-Aziz Lourhraz (Morocco), Abdel-Salam Salem (Egypt), Al-Shaimaa Darwish (Egypt), Aurora Avvantaggiato (Italy), Heba Khalifa (Egypt), Ipek Denizli (Cyprus), Iulia Morcov (Romania), Lina Osama (Egypt), Mhanny Yaoud (Egypt), Michael Heindl (Austria) and Osama Moneim (Egypt) as they tackle issues ranging from gender roles, social pressures, personal space struggles and crowd dynamics to the aesthetics of DNA and the contradiction between life and death. The project includes historical tours for its international guests in Giza, Cairo and Alexandria (closing 31 January). ‬

Artist Izabela Uchman composes pictures based on literary texts using Arabic calligraphy as a means of visual communication. Each work is an artistic record of coexistence between the meaning and aesthetic qualities of the words (27 January-3 February). ‬

‪“Abu Simbel: 200 Years After the Passing of Sheikh Ibrahim Burckhardt”, exhibition marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Swiss Orientalist Johann Ludwig Burckhardt—who discovered one of the most well-known ancient Egyptian monuments, the Temple of Abu Simbel in Aswan—the BA Antiquities Museum organizes the exhibition, in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland, and the University of Basel in Switzerland. It showcases a number of plaques portraying the locations visited by Sheikh Ibrahim during his travels to Nubia, such as Philae, Abu Simbel, and Qasr Ibrim (closing13 February). ‬
