She wears pantsuits...
Published in Al-Ahram Weekly on 30 - 08 - 2016

Their taste in fashion may differ, but their style in deception is identical.
Hillary Clinton does not wear Prada – she wears pantsuits, all the time.
We have nothing against that. In fact, the pantsuit is the second most favourite invention in women's attire since Chanel's little black dress. When perfectly constructed it is a woman's triumph over masculinity. Think of Marlene Dietrich, Katherine Hepburn and others who enhanced their femininity in a provocative pantsuit.
A pantsuit goes to the office as an emblem of authority and distinction. That may be the effect Hillary is aiming for, but hers are frumpy, unaesthetic and the array of rainbow colours is boring rather than exciting.
It is amazing that a woman who has been in the public eye for over three decades, has as yet to pick a thing or two about taste and elegance.
As the wife of the Governor of Arkansas, a former first lady, a US senator for eight years and secretary of state for four, she has in fact been running for president almost all of her adult life –and is getting pretty close to it. Does that mean more pantsuits! Despite wearing new outfits designed by Armani, Ralph Lauren etc. that cost over $200,000, they still look like home-made pantsuits as she lectures on the plight of the poor and underprivileged.
Clothes may make the man or woman, but we are willing to forego the optics if she were honest and competent. She is neither.
The whole world is aware of the many contradictions about her private server, her deleted emails, her classified documents, her testimony under oath to the Congress which contradicts the facts according to the FBI, yet has not been reprimanded by any authority. The Department of State, the Justice Department and the president are protecting her. Many with far less crimes, and they are Federal crimes languishing in jail, while she is free as a bird to campaign for the expected return to the White House.
The Clinton Foundation has served as a charitable foundation since its inception in 1997 despite complaints that donations meant for Haiti and other countries were never distributed. The Associated Press has revealed that during her tenure as Secretary of State, meetings and favours were accorded to those who made donations to the foundation, now worth $156 million. While the Department of Justice is investigating this ‘quid pro quo' claim, you can bet she will come out unscathed. The state department is also shielding her from accountability of her emails and will release the rest only after the elections. “Hillary Clinton is a breathtakingly, brazen and consistent liar”, says the State Department's Inspector General.
Corruption is a word not strong enough for what is going on in the country of Jefferson, Washington and Lincoln. Even Nixon resigned for far less. But the Clintons it seems are above the law.
When the likes of such unworthiness will occupy the highest post in the world, perhaps this once great democracy has indeed reached its peak and with the Obama presidency, now to be followed by another Clinton, we can kiss this democracy ‘GoodBye'.
“While the people retain their virtue and vigilance, no administration by any extreme of wickedness or folly can seriously injure the government in the short span of four years,” wrote Abraham Lincoln… But when the four become eight, then 12, then 16 and the people are asleep, it is certain the American dream will vanish..
Hillary's deception is nothing new. Because “she has difficulty with the truth”, she established a pattern of lies and deceit in order to manipulate any situation to her advantage. We are stunned by how much she got away with throughout her career.
Fresh from Yale Law School, Hillary landed a plum post on the Watergate committee. She was soon shamefully fired. She wrote a fraudulent legal brief, ignored the truth and actually attempted to hide it. She confiscated public documents and removed all files to the offices where she was located, which was secure and inaccessible to the public. Had her brief been submitted, she would have been disbarred. Instead she was fired for lies, unethical behaviour by ‘Watergate-Era Judiciary – Chief of Staff' and refused a letter of recommendation. Chief of Staff Jerry Zeitman has every detail recorded in his diary. Why has he not published them? A cowardly media refused to touch it.
When Bill was governor of Arkansas, she was hired at the Rose Law firm and the dishonest tactics continued…Whitewater, Travel-gate, File Gate, Cattle-futures, Health Care fiasco and remember Bosnia … how she lied about facing sniper-fire… a total fabrication.
As for intelligence and capability, look at the mess she left behind in the Arab world and even Russia and the Ukraine, not to mention the Iranian deal which was started by her, before John Perry took over. She is responsible for the destruction in the Arab world and seriously hurt Egypt by embracing and financing the Monstrous Brotherhood.
Clinton's advisor Dick Morris states: “I can't think of a single bill Hillary introduced or a single comment she has made on the war on terror.”
Obama has already weakened the presidency. It will be a sad tomorrow for the US if he hands over the reins of power to one Hillary Clinton.
Perhaps if Prada had intervened America would have been saved from disaster and pantsuits.
“In the long run every government is the exact symbol of its people, with their wisdom and unwisdom “
Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881)
