TWO Egyptian athletes claimed the gold medal in two sports. Marksman Azmi Mehelba took the gold medal in Italy's Skeet Shooting Grand Prix, scoring an unprecedented 125/125 without missing a single shot. It was the first time Egypt had achieved such a feat at the international level. Mehelba had qualified for the Rio Olympic Games even before the Italy event. He had previously booked his ticket to Rio at the African championships. Meanwhile, Ihab Abdel-Rahman continued showing rapid and steady progress, claiming the gold medal in the javelin at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Diamond League which was held in Eugene, in the US. Abdel-Rahman threw for 87.37 metres to lead the men's table. He came ahead of Kenya's Juluius Yego who reached 83.21 metres, followed by Germany's Thomas Rohler who threw for a distance of 80.61 metres.
